here’s our path forward

When Jess Thompson decided to take over getFIT615, she knew that a place like this had to continue to exist in the fitness landscape. The work of anti-diet culture, anti-oppression, pro-compassion, and pro-belonging is a community effort and people need spaces like this to come home to and connect with like-minded folks.

We are committed to joyful movement and we also want to foster curiosity. That means learning more about strength techniques, honing skills, finding autonomy in movement, and understanding the language around strength, specifically kettlebells.

It’s always our goal to educate people to do things not just at our gym but to also be empowered in their bodies out in the world.

Why Kettlebells?

Kettlebells are the most versatile strength tool. You don’t need to have access to a ton of different sizes and weights to experience a focused, quality movement session. And, because kettlebells make you feel like a true badass.

A Gym That’s Anti-Diet Culture?

That’s right. We’re anti-diet culture, but we’re not anti-dieter, or anti-anyone-on-a-diet-or-thinking-about-dieting-or-has-dieted-in-the-past. We’re anti-everything that makes you feel like you should always be trying to get smaller. You deserve to be here exactly how you are. We think that’s important, so we’ll say it again: you deserve to be here exactly how you are.

To build community requires vigilant awareness of the work we must continually do to undermine all the socialization that leads us to behave in ways that perpetuate domination.
