Often finding herself restlessly practicing handstands during her 9-5, Kate started getFIT615 in March of 2014 with one goal in mind: get people to sweat more. getFIT615 was an online outlet that hosted many free events around town with the intention of giving people the opportunity to try new gyms and studios, and new ways of moving their bodies.
The opportunity arose for getFIT615 to move into a brick and mortar in a historic home on Music Row, home to Shakti Power Yoga. Being that Kate had been calling Shakti Power Yoga home for the past year, it was an absolute "yes!"
Kate encourages students to love their bodies and appreciate them for all they are. She believes that movement is vital to our well-being and that we should move our bodies in a way that we enjoy with people we love.
Kate's goals are to share her passion for movement, and growth and bring her values of belonging, fun, and authenticity into the gym and into your life!
Everyone, every strength and EVERY body is invited to and welcome at getFIT615!
Nashville was never on Riki's radar. When applying for grad school, she had her sights set on Colorado. She applied to Belmont University on a whim and three weeks later decided that Nashville will be her new home. Born in St. Louis, and raised in Southern Illinois until she was 9, she claims her Midwestern roots even though she lived all around Florida for the past 14 years.
Ever since she could walk, she had been active and involved in sports. She played collegiate basketball all four years of her undergrad at Nova Southeastern University. After graduating, she had a hard time trying to identify herself as anything other than a basketball player. This is where her love for health and fitness was born. She found that fitness allowed her to challenge herself, set goals, and inspire others.
Riki is in the Sport Administration graduate program at Belmont University. When she is not teaching, studying, or coaching she spends her free time at a local coffee shop with a latte in hand, sweating in the community, or adventuring throughout the woods.
Hilary moved to Nashville in July of 2015 with her husband, Bella and Wrigley... their pups. She quickly found a home at Shakti Power Yoga and getFIT615. She completed her yoga teacher training with Shakti’s EmPower School of Yoga in 2016 and felt excited to jump right into teaching. Hilary does one on one personal training (email her at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a time to meet) and is drawn to group classes because of the way it brings people together. She adores the positive energy and welcoming community that she has connected to at 65 Music Sq. East.
Hilary grew up an athlete. She played college volleyball, and is currently an avid runner. You can find her on Instagram at @gritandglow - why Grit and Glow? Because her goal is to empower students to find their inner toughness, determination and grit to achieve glowing and healthy spirits, minds, bodies and unity!
Kasey is a southern girl through and through who moved to Nashville after graduating from UGA. After a few years in the music industry, Kasey made a few changes after discovering her love of fitness and event planning.
Kasey can be found teaching at Pure Barre in Green Hills as well as GetFit615. She is also the lead wedding planner for TOAST of Tennessee.
Kasey's favorite days at GetFit615 are Freedom Fridays because she loves getting to be creative in her workouts! When Kasey's not teaching classes or planning weddings, you can find her eating chocolate, drinking wine, beaching, surrounding herself in positive energy and, obviously, sweating every day.
When Jessi Schlachter began working out at getFIT615, she quickly fell in love with the high intensity workouts and the community of people in that unique little space. After Jessi leaves a workout, she loves how the fire in her heart outweighs the burning in her quads :) It wasn't long before she joined the team!
Jessi believes that you should do things each day that make your body stronger, challenge your mind, and fill up your spirit.
Jessi is also a therapist at Rooted Counseling here in Nashville where she provides tools to help others realize their greatness. She translates that passion for people into teaching classes at getFIT615. Jessi has a heart for others (and dogs) and is excited to share it with you!
Born in Dallas and a Nashville native since second grade, Barbara grew up with a love for the outdoors. This meant weekly outings to "convene with nature" (as her parents called it) on Sundays to hike, bike, kayak, canoe, swim, climb, ride horses, camp, and anything in between. A passionate dancer, Barbara also took classes in hip hop, ballet, contemporary, and jazz, with her only exposure to "working out" being Zumba classes. She realized that the only way she would enjoy movement is if it was fun! Never underestimate the power of a dance break of breakdancing or some salsa in between sets.
These years of understanding functional, natural movement led her to CrossFit and weightlifting in recent years, while still remembering that every movement should be mindful and make the body move better in the long-run. Her love for helping others find their fit led her to get ACE-certified as a group fitness trainer in the summer of 2015 as well as to bring to Vanderbilt a chapter of CHAARG, a health & fitness "sorority," to help college-aged women find a love for movement.
Studying Medicine, Health, and Society as well as Communications at Vanderbilt University, Barbara lives the student life--odd work hours, student organization meetings, group projects, papers, and tests--and continues to learn more about how to improve health on the community-wide level through policies that are more effective and engaging than those that are currently in place. Everyone deserves to be healthy, happy, and at peace.
Prior to moving to Nashville, Kelly was working on her Ph.D. in exercise physiology at the University of Georgia, where she studied the effects of diet and exercise on overweight and obesity. There was a turning point in her academic career where she found her passion was more focused on coaching: helping others reach their goals by leading a healthy, active lifestyle. She decided to step away from the academic world and began working for lululemon athletica, where she is able to coach and inspire others to go after their goals every day. She works full time as a key leader at the Hill Center store in Green Hills.
What attracted Kelly to Nashville and sealed the deal on her move here was the culture and fitness community, and GetFit615 was the buttercream frosting on her red velvet cake! She fell in love with GetFit615 well before she started to coach, because of the welcoming and positive energy she experienced every time she walked through the door. You can expect her to have the same passion for health and positive energy radiating during every class!
Kelly has a B.S. in Kinesiology from Michigan State University, and a M.S. in Health and Physical Activity from the University of Pittsburgh. She runs half marathons and practices yoga, but has a sweet spot for high intensity workouts. When she is not coaching or sweating, you can find her outside in the sun exploring with her fur baby, Lily, drinking wine, golfing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Emma is getFIT615's most beloved team member. She is kind. She is gentle. She listens. She also likes for all of her students to know that they don't have to do anything that her mom says and instead gives them the option to play fetch with her or cuddle in the office.
Emma is a firm believer that you can always run faster. She knows that practicing steady breathing, landing lightly on all four paws, letting your tongue hang loose out the side of your mouth, and pinning your ears back in true "fast-ear" form, are running's most important tips. Emma also believes that sometimes you have to go after a squirrel and sometimes you have to lay on the cool concrete floors for a round or two.
She's been known to lick a face, steal a mat, and cuddle during a plank.
You can follow all of her adventures on Instagram at @readyforEMMAthing... because after-all, she IS ready for anything... most of the time.
Justin moved to Nashville with his wife, Lyndi, and their infamous Bodog in 2011, and quickly fell in love with the incredible community. And the hilly streets. After all, Justin is a self-proclaimed gazelle. Let me explain.
Justin loves to run marathons. Sometimes they’re in Nashville, and other times he uses them as a great excuse to explore a new city. In 2014, he ran two long-distance races back to back and completed the latter with some pretty severe piraformis and IT band injuries. At the time, his training was largely alone and running-based, combining hill sprints, jogging and long-distance runs. After several months of rest and physical therapy, Justin got back on the pavement. But something still wasn’t right.
It wasn’t until his wife, Lyndi, talked him into joining her at getFIT615 and Shakti Power Yoga, that he realized what his training was missing: balance. Justin is a huge advocate of living a balanced lifestyle, but it wasn’t until he joined these workout sessions that he understood why it was so important. To engage new muscles, stretch often, eat foods that make the body feel energized, and be part of a supportive community. Each of these things has given Justin the motivation to make the transition from a good runner, to a great runner. And he’s been a 65 Music Square East junkie ever since!
When Justin isn’t at the gym you can find him working with Lyndi on their newly launched creative business consulting firm, The Reardenstein Collective. And when he’s not running that he’s mixing up fun cocktails, taste-testing for Juniper Green, and exploring new cities with Lyndi and Bodog.
Miriam Singer and Kate Moore have been friends for years. They connected over fitness and it continues to bring them together. Miriam has worked out at GetFit615 since day one and finally taught her first class in 2015. She’s recently found out that she loves empowering people to be strong; To find the inner strength to pick up a heavier kettlebell, to find the inner strength to say “no” to something that doesn’t make you happy, and to find the inner strength to say “yes, I’m worth it!” When Miriam isn’t at the gym, she’s working in the Music Industry (at a new standing desk!), out in Cottontown with her hubs and babies… I mean, puppies, or hiking and kayaking with friends. She is also the driving force behind the doTERRA Essential Oil movement that GetFit615 loves so much - have questions?! Find her at the gym and ask!
